How to get rid of pimples and dark spots overnight naturally and permanently at home

My skin is very sensitive, oily & acne prone, and especially during the summer and monsoon days or during my periods,  pricky heat and pimples are some of the common issues I face.

Through this article, I am going to share from my personal experience on how I tackled my pimples and acne problems from home. Here are all the remedies that I followed to suit my oily skin and help me get rid of acne problems in 1-2 days, overnight in many minor cases.

First, let me tell you that never try to pick your pimple or else it will lead to the spread of bacteria, hyperpigmentation and scarring. Before starting this step always wash your hands with soap and never touch your face with dirty hands.

Two main reasons for skin acne problems on face:

-Bacteria

-Blocking of skin pores due to oily skin, dust etc.

Here are some significant practices and product I follow to cure my acne which changed my skincare game:-

1. A Good Cleansing

Oil and dirt clog our pores which may lead to acne, breakouts, dehydration and premature aging. So everyday after back home, I always remove my makeup and sunscreen with Coconut oil or a makeup cleanser. Then, I gently wash my face twice everyday with facewash and lukewarm water. Oily skin can use foam based facewash and dry skin can use gel or cream based facewash. Facewash  basically unclogs our pores.

Once you are done with cleansing gently pat your hands to dry your face a little and continue with the next step on your damp skin.

Products I use:

Garnier Skin Natural Micellar Cleansing water

Mamaearth Ubtan Facewash

Plum Green Tea Pore Cleansing facewash

Cetaphil Oily Cleanser

2. Salt Mask

Did you ever realize that adding salt to skin care routine can actually do wonders and helps in removing acne?

Salt is the most common ingredient in our kitchen. It has antibacterial properties which absorbs bacteria from the skin and act as a good exfoliator. It also tightens the pores and brightens the skin.

From my personal experience I will tell you how to use and why we should consider using salt to add in our skin care routine.

Process: Mix 2 tablespoon of salt and a pint of warm water. Dip cotton pads in salt water solution and gently apply to your skin, avoiding the eye area. Let it stand for 10 to 15 min like a face mask. Then rinse your face with cold water. You will definitely see the difference after your first use. It soothes the pain for sure and the redness goes away.  It also reduces the size of the acne and give great relief to acne marks too.

3. Use Ice on skin

Ice onto your face is one of the famous practice that has been associated with cold therapies. It has certain benefits like reducing inflammation, improving blood circulation, reduces signs of aging, reduce oiliness, sunburns and boost healthy glow.

Process: From my personal experience never apply direct ice onto your face and could actually cause burn and irritation. Therefore, not recommended.

Always use a clean cotton cloth to wrap the ice cubes and then gently massage your face for 2 to 3 min.

4. Use of baking soda

Baking soda is a natural antiseptic which can help reduce the bacteria that causes acne. It can soothe an itchy skin and as it’s also something most of us have in our pantry, this makes baking soda a great home remedy for heat rash and other itchy skin conditions.

Process: Add 2 to 4 tablespoons of baking soda to a lukewarm bath and soak on skin for about 20 minutes.

5. Use of Aloe vera

Aloe vera is a much needed multipurpose item one must have for it's innumerable number of benefits. It an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic which can cool down the skin, help soothe swelling and pain. We can use aloe vera gel directly on your heat rash to relieve the discomfort.

Aloe vera products I use:

WOW Skin Science Aloe vera Multipurpose Nutrigel

Mamaearth Aloe Ashwagandha Gel

6. The right toner for our skin type

Toner is most necessary for acne-prone or oily skin. Apply a small amount of toner to a cotton pad and gently dab onto your skin or you can also add toner with a moisturizer. Toner will help you to control oiliness, reduces tiny bumps, shrink pores, fades acne scars and darks spot.

The toners I use for my oily skin:

Pixi Glow Tonic

Plum Green Tea Alcohol-free toner

Biotique honey water pore tightening toner

You can also use rose water as a toner and get natural glow.

**You will see visible results within 3 days and will forget the word "acne" like a horror dream.**

However, if this trick does not work for your skin type, you can always consult a dermatologist. Now, the biggest question arises that is what will you ask a dermatologist. Because I personally felt it too.

What questions will you ask a dermatologist about skin care?

Talking to a dermatologist should be as open as talking to any other doctors. Always be open to your doctor about your issues, how you face them and specifically when you face them, any product you been recently using on the skin or excess exposure to or or whatsoever it may be.

For example "Doctor, from past 1-2 weeks I am having this skin irritation/itchy skin/pimples/heat rashes/prickly heat on my hand/face/forehead . I had been lately trying these products on my skin which I suspect may be the cause of the issue. Usually I face this issue when I exposed too much under the sun/periods/late periods etc."

To take the full advantage of your dermatologist appointment, always prepare a list of the following:

. Your recent skin issue

. Your diet

. How long does your acne stay

. Skin care routine you follow

. The symptoms

. Your period cycle

Some clear photographs of your skin issue (If possible)
